ROMA ART WEEK In 2010 Roma will show up on the stage, and rightfully so, among contemporary art capitals, providing a week of not-to-be-missed events for International audience; artists, gallerists, collectors, curators, museum directors, journalists and art advisors will meet in Rome from the 24th to the 30 May 2010. A unique opportunity to bring out a rich programme of events able to celebrate the City’s unparalleled artistic communities. MUSEUMS One of the most anticipated contemporary art events of 2010 will be the joint opening of the two contemporary art museums of Rome, foreseen for the month of May: MACRO and MAXXI. ACADEMIES' FEAST Great novelty of the edition, which will raise curiosity of the art lovers for its uniqueness, will be the Accademie in Festa (Academies' Feast): a project created through the partnership with the most important foreign Academies of Art and Cultural Institutes operating in Rome; the only city in the world to host so many prestigious foreign cultural institutions, the project is meat to enhance the significant role that they play in the Roman cultural landscape. On the fair’s occasion, Academies and Institutes will present in their venues a selection of artists of their own country represented by the best National galleries: a downright trip along the “National Pavilions” of each country. Artists will be selected by national renowned curators in order to guarantee the highest ACADEMY OF ACADEMIES The second edition of the exhibition Academy of the Academies, curated by Shara Wasserman, will showcase the works of all the resident artistis operating in the different Academies, in a single venue. THINGS YOU NEVER SAW Things You Never Saw exhibition, curated by Achille Bonito Oliva, is coming back for the third time, devoted to evaluate and emphasize the importance of art collecting. After having analysed art collections of gallerists and artists, this edition will stage works of private Collectors. SPIRITO OUTCASTS - MAT COLLISHAW Installation curated by Valentina Ciaralla e Pier Paolo Pancotto in Complesso Monumentale di Santo Spirito in Sassia. PIAZZA D'ARTE The exhibition presents 20 big photos and 3 videos by Peppe Avallone to celebrate the anniversary of the fifteen years of exhibition developed for Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples: a pathway which started in 1995 with the Montagna di sale (Salt Mountain) by Mimmo Paladino and culminated in 2009 with Pionier II by Carsten Nicolai.
